The Battle of the Tests

Should I take the ACT or the SAT or both? In North Carolina all juniors are required to take the ACT with the essay component as part of school accountability. Of course students do not have to pay for this test. Therefore, since you HAVE to take the test, you might want to prepare or practice for the big day. Can't hurt, right?

Check with your high school counseling office to see if they offer any ACT Prep classes or Test Prep materials. The Internet is a great source to find practice tests and information on testing strategies. One of my favorite sources is Princeton Review. This company has researched based strategies that help students increase test scores.

North Carolina State University has a program called ASPIRE (ACT Supplemental Preparation in Rural Education) designed to bridge deficits in rural high school students’ performance on the ACT College Entrance Examination in order to increase the number of students pursuing higher education. For more information on ASPIRE, click on the picture below.

Which test should you take? Check out the infographic at the top of the page (I love infographics. They are so easy to read). This is a great visual on ACT vs SAT.

Princeton Review also has a self test "Should I Take the ACT, the SAT or Both?"
